Nora loves her daddy

My Aunt Beverly came and we took a roadtrip to Terre Haute to meet my Mom and Dad...quick trip, but pretty fun.

Nora has sudden days of grown-upness. She will just wake up older...it's strange. I have found that she really likes the warmth of outside. She's much calmer during diaper changes when they happen outside in the sun-warmed car.

4-H Fair

I'm not well versed in fairs. I think I remember going to only one fair -once (some festivals, but no fairs). I have no recollection of riding a ferris wheel, eating an elephant ear, or many other 'fair-like' things. So, I've been really anticipating the upcoming 4-H fair. Andy has Mondays off, so we planned to go visit the fairgrounds and have an evening out. I was anticipating an elephant ear, lemon shake-up, and a ride on the ferris wheel.

Unfortunately, the vendors were few -and, I'm not sure why. We found a funnel cake but no elephant ear. And, I thought I'd had a lemon shake-up before, but I was a little disappointed when I found it was more like lemonade and less like a frozen lemon thing. And, there were a variety of rides, but absolutely no ferris wheel. I did see the most gigantic pig I've ever seen and lots of chickens. Nora seemed to have fun for the first 2 minutes of the fair, but then she fell asleep for the entire rest of the time. So, not what we imagined but a fun evening anyway.

Itty Bitty Garden

On Memorial Day Andy and I dug up some dirt and tried to plant a garden. I wasn't really sure anything would grow, but I wanted to try anyway. We have 2 squash plants, 5 green bean bushes, 3 tomato plants, 5 corn stalks, and some watermelon. All things seem to be growing, but there hasn't been any vegetables or fruit. Today I walked out to see it again and found that there is at least one very baby green bean growing on each bean plant...but that's it. I hope it makes enough that some day we can eat from our garden. I'm excited to see everything grow :)

I must be a mom...

This afternoon I went into the bathroom and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I laughed and thought to myself, "Now I look like a real mom." I felt both physically and emotionally better today than I have in a while. So, when I looked in the mirror and saw my disheveled hair, leakage stains and baby throw-up on my shirt it made me smile...and feel proud. When you look like that, you must be doing something right, huh?

Nora Brielle -June 24th

She finally arrived, and it's been more lovely and more challenging than I ever expected. I love her dearly.
