Today I was searching through my email for something while I sat here patiently (well, sort of patiently?) waiting for the baby to decide to come. I found one that makes my heart glad and my eyes fill up with tears everytime I read it. Maybe it's because I'm pregnant and emotional, but I don't think so. It was a message written November 2, 2003 -almost 6 years ago, which is hard to believe. It was a message from Andy, and the last part said, "God is so powerful in your life, amanda. never forget it."
He always says the most simple things that dwell in my head and heart and seem so profound and true. I'm sad to say that I have most definitely forgotten how powerful God is in my life several times since then. And, I'm thankful for emails saved to remind me of wonderful truths.
I have no idea what kind of emotions, trials, and circumstances our little baby will bring. But I am so glad to have a powerful God that works in my life and a wonderful husband who reminds me of that.

Memory of A Lesson Learned
I'm reading through the book of Numbers right now. I have a hard time trying to "get something" from what I read because the book is (as it is clearly described in it's title) all about numbers of things, people, etc. I have learned several things though and made a few applications. Today I was reading chapter 14 and it reminded me of an event in my life that happened long, long ago. Something others perhaps would have forgotten, but the memory in my mind is clear -and I'm sure my dad is happy about that. I think I was 5 years old and my dad told Jonathan and me to put on our socks and shoes. He didn't really give us more information other than he wanted us to do it and stop playing. I'm not really sure what we were playing...maybe we were even watching tv, but we did not go and get our shoes on. I know that he asked us at least one more time to put our shoes on, but we were in no hurry to do it. We found out after we didn't that our destination was ShowBiz Pizza. When we knew that we tried to run, hurry and put on our shoes. But, it was too late. We were asked, we did not obey, and our chance was lost. A little lesson in obedience. I remembered that again today when I read chapter 14 of Numbers. God wanted the people to go and possess the Promised Land, but the people were in no hurry to do that because they were afraid of the inhabitants. God was frustrated that they had seen Him do many miracles (taking them from Egypt, crossing the Red Sea, providing Manna, presenting himself in a constant presence of fire and cloud, etc) and yet they did not believe that He would see them through this even though He promised He would. So, he gave them the consequences. Everyone (except Joshua and Caleb) over the age of 20 years would die in the wilderness. Well, of course the people didn't like that either. Some of them decided to then change their mind after they learned the consequence...they wanted to do what God asked, but it was too late. The decision had been made and the people had disobeyed. Some of them tried to go into the land anyway -Moses warned them that God would not be with them now, but they attempted and were killed.
So, lessons to be learned everywhere. We should obey our parents and do what God has asked. It seems so simple, but really it's quite difficult to actually do everyday and all day.

2 Weeks, and Counting
So, there are 2 weeks left for our little baby to surprise us with his/her arrival. I'm anxious to meet my baby and at the same time scared to death. Last doctor visit I had progressed to 2cm...and I feel pretty happy about that. Baby J could arrive just anytime. I feel like so many crazy emotions are surging through me it's difficult to express -mostly happy, a little sad to end this chapter of my newlywed couplehood with Andy but excited to experience parenting with him. I just keep wondering how this baby will choose to make it's appearance, and if it doesn't come soon the doctor will make sure that we meet our wee little baby in 2 weeks...
I can't believe it's so soon -and yet, so far away. Everyone keeps asking me if I'm ready, and I just keep wondering how I could ever even know if I'm ready. I suppose we'll find out soon.

In Love...
We have been given tons of stuff to get ready for our baby. One of the things given to us was a baby swing. I liked it, but I couldn't get it to work. Over the weekend I walked into the living room to see that my lovely husband had taken it all apart. Pieces of plastic, tools, and wires lay everywhere. I wanted to see what he was up to -and curious to find out if he could fix it. Well, he did. He looked at all the wires, tested connectivity of the motor and batteries, found the problem and solved it. Now we have a wonderful working swing. I don't think I could ever figure out some of the things he does -I think he might be a genius.

And, on Monday night we had a real, actual date :) -most of the time we go grocery shopping together or to the doctor's office and call it a date just because we're together. Monday was wonderful. We went out to get something to eat and ended up spending quite a while at Barnes&Noble. I found these question books on how well you know each other and we spent a lot of time asking each other questions to see if knew each other as well as we thought we did. Lots of fun and laughing...and I think Andy thinks I'm smarter than I really am. (I only wish I was as smart as he thought.) And, finally when they announced the store was soon to close, we headed to the cafe where I got a strawberry drink and Andy a coffee. It was wonderful because it was the first time in quite a while that I drank something besides water or milk. Actually, it's been several months since I've had anything besides those two. So, it was wonderfully fun and relaxing. And, I love my husband. I know having the baby will change everything, but I'm convinced it won't change how much I'm in love with him.
