Something dreadful...

So, I have been working on making a small baby quilt for my soon-to-come child. I was always excited about the fabric at the stores and then questioned my decisions when I got home. Finally, I got the whole quilt pieced together. It took me a long time to get the binding on the sides. Finally, I finished it. A good washing before use seemed like a good idea, so I put it in the washing machine with a bit of fear that all my stitches wouldn't stay. When I pulled it out of the washing machine, my fears were realized. There are three (or so) places where the stitching did not stay. Disappointed and completely distraught describe my feelings well. Although the quilt isn't very big, it took a lot of time, energy, and love to make...and now it seems so sad. Hopefully I can salvage it...perhaps with glue or some fancy patches, or a new "let's put a triangle shape and circle here in the middle".
Humm, anyway. I love the baby, and I love to feel it move, and I love when I can tell that it's just repositioning and not just kicking or stretching. It's rather amazing to think that God decided to let a small human grow inside another. How creative He is.
So, just to prove it was at one time rather nice here is a before picture of the little quilt. Perhaps if/when I fix it I will do a before and after :)

Some Kicks From Today

The baby seems to be kicking me all the day long -and I mostly like it. I grabbed the camera a couple of times today to catch the kicks so you could see them, too.

This song speaks my heart...

...except I don't so much mind that they're closed on Sundays. I love Chick Fil A.

Me & My Niece Look-Alike

(Niah on the Left, me on the right)

I wonder if our baby will look as much like one of it's uncles or maybe Aunt Carey as I think Niah looks like me.

pregnancy cartoon
Last night Andy was "listening" to the baby when it decided to kick him in the head. He reports there was a swoosh and then a thump as the baby kicked his face. I think it's pretty funny. He's going to be fine, and he's quite happy to have interacted with Baby J.

Prognosticator of all Prognosticators?

"Hear Ye Hear Ye
On Gobbler's Knob this glorious Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 2009
Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of all Prognosticators
Awoke to the call of President Bill Cooper
And greeted his handlers, Ben Hughes and John Griffith
After casting a joyful eye towards thousands of his faithful followers,
Phil proclaimed that his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers were World Champions one more time
And a bright sky above me
Showed my shadow beside me.
So 6 more weeks of winter it will be."

59° today -warm weather anticipated for the rest of the week. Maybe something was lost in translation when Phil made his prediction...
